About the Chef
Barbara is the Chef/Owner of Dining by Design, a Personal Chef service that provides customized meal preparation, great tasting food and the precious gift of time with a convenient and affordable solution to the age old question: “What's For Dinner?” Barbara has been in business since 1996 and has clients in Broward and Palm Beach Counties.
Born and raised in New Jersey, Barbara developed her passion for cooking at an early age, cooking with her family. After a career in Medical Technology, Barbara decided to follow her passion. She took the plunge and enrolled in the New York Restaurant School, graduating in 1983.
She moved to South Florida several years later and over the next 7 years, she held increasingly more demanding positions in the kitchens at the Boca West Country Club. While there, Barbara had the opportunity to cater banquets, dinner parties for a small gourmet dining room, international themed buffets, as well as cooking for the main dining room.
In 1996, Barbara joined the United States Personal Chef Association (USPCA) and realized the dream of having her own business and doing what she loved every day. Barbara had the honor of being chosen as the “cover girl” for Personal Chef Magazine in January, 2005.
Barbara has been an active member of the USPCA, as a trainer, mentor, President of the South Florida Chapter, and member of the National Advisory Council, as well as Chapter Liaison.
